By Dreaming3D San Diego, CA dreaming3d.com

San Diego's go-to 3D printing service

Whether your printer needs fixing or you need a custom part made, Dreaming3D is right here in your community — no shipping wait, no guesswork.

If you live in San Diego and you're into 3D printing — whether you're a seasoned maker with a farm of machines or someone who just got their first FDM printer — you've probably run into two problems at some point: something breaks, or you need a part you can't easily source anywhere else.

That's exactly why Dreaming3D exists. We're a locally owned San Diego 3D printing service built for hobbyists, tinkerers, cosplayers, engineers, and small business owners who need real help from real humans who actually know this stuff.

What we do

Custom 3D printing

Have a design? We'll print it in FDM or resin. Need a file created from scratch? We handle that too.

3D printer repair

Clogged hotend, bed leveling issues, broken extruder, firmware nightmares — we diagnose and fix it all.

Printer maintenance & tuning

Preventive care, calibration, and upgrades so your machine runs like it just came out of the box.

Design consultation

Not sure what material or settings to use? We'll walk you through it — no jargon, just answers.

Why San Diego hobbyists choose us

San Diego has a thriving maker community — from the workshops in North Park to the garage labs in Santee and Chula Vista. But when something goes wrong with your printer, the closest "official" service might be a mail-in process that takes weeks. We're local. You can drop your machine off, talk to someone who actually knows what a Bambu Lab P1S or a Prusa MK4 looks like, and get it back fast.

We treat every printer like it's our own. If we'd be frustrated by a two-week turnaround, we're not going to do that to you. Local service means real accountability.

Common repair jobs we see in San Diego

1

Clogged or heat-creep hotend

Especially common in San Diego summers when ambient temps creep up. We clear clogs and upgrade cooling if needed.

2

Bed adhesion and first-layer problems

Humidity and temperature swings along the coast can wreak havoc on bed leveling. We re-calibrate and dial it in.

3

Stepper motor and belt issues

Layer shifting, ghosting, and clicking sounds usually point here. We replace worn belts and tune motor current.

4

Board failures and firmware flashing

Fried mainboards, broken USB ports, or firmware that just won't cooperate — we've seen it all and fixed it all.

5

Resin printer wiper and FEP replacement

MSLA and DLP machines need regular FEP film swaps. We do it cleanly and recalibrate exposure settings after.

Need something printed? Here's what people order

You don't need to own a printer to use our service. A huge chunk of our customers simply have an idea — or a file — and need it made real. Here are some of the most popular things our San Diego customers bring to us:

Cosplay props & armor

San Diego Comic-Con inspires a lot of our work. We print helmets, weapons, and armor pieces in PLA, PETG, and ASA.

Replacement parts

Broken a plastic bracket on a chair, fan shroud, or appliance? We can often model and print a replacement the same day.

Tabletop game minis

Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer, board game pieces — we print in high-detail resin for crisp results.

Prototypes & inventions

Got an idea for a product? We help local inventors and small businesses turn sketches into functional prototypes.

Garden & outdoor fixtures

Custom stakes, planters, irrigation brackets — we use UV-resistant ASA filament for outdoor durability.

Gifts & personalized items

Keychains, desk nameplates, custom figurines — something unique made right here in San Diego.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a repair typically take?

Most common repairs are completed within 2–4 business days. Complex issues like board replacements may take a bit longer, but we'll always give you an honest estimate upfront.

What printers do you service?

We work on virtually all FDM and MSLA/DLP resin printers — Bambu Lab, Prusa, Creality, Elegoo, Anycubic, Voron builds, and more. If it prints, we can probably fix it.

Do you print files from customers?

Yes! You can send us your STL or 3MF file and we'll quote you based on material, size, and complexity. Not sure what material to choose? We'll help you decide.

Are you really local to San Diego?

Yes — we're based right here in San Diego, serving the greater area including Chula Vista, El Cajon, La Mesa, Santee, and surrounding communities.

Ready to get started?

Bring your printer in for repair, send us your file to print, or just reach out with a question. We're local, we're fast, and we actually love this stuff.
