The Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combos of 2026 — and the Printed Parts That Fix What They Can't
Six machines worth the money, ranked against independent lab data. Then the honest part: the eight things you should print to make any of them actually work in your house.
A robot vacuum is the rare appliance where the expensive problem and the cheap problem live side by side. The expensive problem — suction, navigation, whether the mop actually lifts a dried coffee ring — is solved by buying the right machine. The cheap problem is the 18 mm oak threshold between your kitchen and your hallway that a $1,700 flagship will bounce off of twice a day, forever.
The second problem costs about four dollars of filament to solve. That's the part almost nobody writes about, so this guide does both halves: what to buy, and what to print once it arrives.
Where these numbers come from
Performance figures below are from Vacuum Wars, which buys every unit at retail, refuses samples and sponsorships, and runs all 205+ robots through one fixed test suite. Prices are their tracked street prices as of August 7, 2026 and move constantly — several of these are mid-promotion. Suction figures in Pascals are manufacturer claims, not measured values, and higher Pa does not reliably mean better cleaning. This post is not sponsored and contains no affiliate links.

The flagship that currently sits at the top of the independent rankings. It posted an 89% carpet deep-clean score and a rare perfect result on flattened pet hair, avoided 22 of 24 obstacles, and clears a 51 mm threshold on its own — which, as you'll see below, is the number that determines whether you need ramps at all. Dual spinning pads with warmed water, 15 N of downward pressure, and a dock that washes with boiling-temperature water and refills its own detergent.
The catch is battery. Testers measured roughly 950 ft² per charge with below-average navigation efficiency, so in a large single-story house it will make several trips back to the dock. The 235 mL onboard bin is small for a machine at this price.
Best value — and the one most people should buy

This is the interesting result of 2026: a $599 robot finishing one-hundredth of a star behind a $1,700 one. It took 100% on flattened pet hair against an 82% average, scored a perfect zero on the seven-inch hair-tangle test, and its roller mop recorded the second-highest combined mopping score ever logged in that lab. It avoided 23 of 24 obstacles. Matter support, hot-water mop washing, a low-profile embedded LiDAR housing, and genuinely strong battery efficiency.
Weaknesses are real but narrow: a 250 mL dustbin about 30% below average, and threshold crossing that tops out around 32 mm with occasional navigation quirks. If your doorways are taller than that, budget for ramps.

Ecovacs Deebot T80S Omni

Removed 91% of embedded sand in the carpet deep-clean test — beating its own more expensive sibling — with 100% pet-hair pickup and zero tangles against a 26% average tangle rate. Its roller mop rinses continuously, handles wet spills without smearing them, lifts 15 mm over carpet and extends to edges. The dock does 75 °C mop washing and 62 °C air drying.
The trade-off is navigation: below-average efficiency means slower coverage, and its threshold ceiling is only about 20 mm. This is the pick where printed ramps pay for themselves fastest.
Homes with kids, pets, cables and shoes on the floor

The only robot in that database to take a flawless 24 out of 24 on obstacle avoidance, clearing every object in both the standard course and the dense torture test. It lifted 87% of embedded sand from carpet versus 61% for the previous generation, took more than 88% of flattened pet hair, and wrapped no hair at all on the anti-tangle test. The roller mop runs at 240 RPM with 15 N of pressure and the dock stores up to 68 days of debris.
Mopping is the soft spot — a below-average stain score driven by conservative water output — along with inconsistent threshold climbing around 32 mm and no live camera view despite having a camera. Buy this one for navigation, not for scrubbing.

Eufy C28 Omni

A roller mop that sprays fresh water on one side and collects the dirty water separately, spinning at 270 RPM with 9.8 N of pressure. It scored above average on dried stains while leaving roughly a quarter as much water behind as the average robot — which is the number that matters on hardwood and laminate. That combination put it inside the top ten mop systems tested. On the vacuum side: 89% carpet deep-clean, perfect pet-hair pickup, no tangling.
Obstacle avoidance is the compromise, at 15 of 24. It is also taller than average, so measure your sofa clearance before ordering.
Carpet-heavy homes
Dreame L60 Ultra PE
$999.99 · ranked #6
A 94% carpet deep-clean score — the second-highest result across roughly 200 machines — plus 100% flattened pet-hair pickup and 0% brush wrap. It avoided 21 of 24 obstacles, cleaned faster than average, and covered more area per charge than most. The dock empties, refills, self-cleans with boiling water and dries the pads with hot air.
Two honest caveats. Stain removal is below average because water output is low, and it cleared a 19 mm threshold but failed at 25 mm in testing. That is a narrow window, and most interior thresholds in a stick-framed house sit right in it.
What the spec sheet won't tell you
Four things that decide whether you like the machine
Threshold height is the whole ballgame. Manufacturers advertise a maximum climb, and the tested numbers are often well below it — the L60 Ultra PE cleared 19 mm but not 25 mm. Go measure your worst doorway with a tape before you shop. If it's over 20 mm, you are either buying a chassis-lifting model or printing a ramp. The ramp is cheaper.
Obstacle avoidance beats suction. Across that test database the average score is 16.6 out of 24, and the spread runs from a perfect 24 down below 10. A robot that gets tangled in a charging cable twice a week is a machine you stop scheduling. If your floors ever have shoes, toys or cords on them, weight this above Pascals.
Water penalty matters more than stain score. A mop that clears every stain but leaves puddles will eventually cup your hardwood. The residual-moisture measurement is the one to read if you have wood or laminate.
Mop combos cost you carpet performance. Some hybrids give up brush clearance to fit the mopping hardware, and testers put the penalty as high as 15% of carpet pickup. If your house is mostly carpet and you already own a mop you like, a vacuum-only robot is the better machine and the simpler one.
About Roomba
iRobot filed a prepackaged Chapter 11 in December 2025 and emerged on January 23, 2026 under 100% ownership by Shenzhen Picea Robotics, its longtime contract manufacturer, with a U.S. subsidiary called iRobot Safe set up to govern consumer data. The company says apps, warranties and support continue, and it is still headquartered in Bedford, Massachusetts. Nothing here is a prediction about Roomba's future — but if you own one, the replacement-parts section below is written with you in mind.
The San Diego version of this problem
Two things make this market different from the national reviews.
Sand is the hard mode. The carpet deep-clean test that separates these machines uses embedded sand specifically, because it's the debris that sinks below the pile and resists suction. If you live within a few miles of the coast and anyone in the house surfs, walks at Torrey Pines, or owns a dog that does, you are running that lab test in your living room every week. Prioritize the carpet score.
Most San Diego housing stock is hard floor. Tile and LVP dominate here in a way they don't in colder markets, which flips the usual advice: mopping quality is not a bonus feature locally, it's the main event. And the marine layer means floors stay faintly damp-feeling in the morning, so a mop that leaves standing water is more noticeable here than it is in Phoenix.
The filament side has a local wrinkle too. Coastal humidity is hard on open spools, and a ramp printed from wet PETG will string, delaminate and crack the first time somebody steps on it. The printed half: eight parts worth making
None of these touch the robot's electronics, and none of them are structural in any sense that matters. They are the small mechanical accommodations that turn a machine that mostly works into one you never think about.
01 · The one everybody needs
Modular threshold ramps
The single highest-value print in this entire category. A door threshold your robot can't clear turns a room into a room the robot never enters. Printed ramps solve it for a few dollars per doorway, and the good community designs are modular — end caps plus repeatable middle sections that let you build any width from a set of parts that each fit a normal build plate.
Geometry is the whole thing. Community designs converge on roughly an 18–18.5% slope ratio: take your threshold height, divide by 0.185, and that's the run you need. A 20 mm threshold wants about 108 mm of ramp depth. Steeper and the robot spins its wheels; shallower and the ramp eats your doorway. One well-regarded free design specifies three perimeters and 15% infill as sufficient to be stepped on by an adult without deflecting, which is the right target — these get walked on constantly.
Counterintuitive print note: go coarser, not finer. A 0.3 mm layer height leaves a slightly rougher top surface, and that texture is what gives rubber drive wheels grip on the climb. A glassy 0.12 mm ramp is a slide. Attach with double-sided tape on hard floor, or the hook side of hook-and-loop tape where a ramp meets carpet.

Dock riser and drip tray
Base stations have grown into appliances, and most sit flat on the floor with a wash tray underneath that occasionally weeps. A printed tray with a 6–8 mm lip catches it before it reaches your baseboard, and a low riser gets the dock off a rug so its own approach ramp isn't fighting the pile. Keep the riser under 10 mm or you create a new threshold for the robot to climb.

Furniture and baseboard bumpers
Even four-figure machines feel their way around, and after a year the finish on your table legs shows it. Printed TPU sleeves that slip over a leg, or thin adhesive strips along a run of baseboard the robot habitually clips, absorb the impact instead of transferring it. TPU is the right call here specifically because it deforms — a rigid PLA bumper just relocates the scuff.

Cable corrals and cord clips
Cables are the number-one thing that ends a cleaning run early. Rather than trusting the camera to identify a black cord on a dark floor, take the cord out of play: printed low-profile channels along a baseboard, clip-on cable combs behind a media console, and a corral around the tangle under a desk. Cheap, fast, and it improves the performance of a $500 robot more reliably than upgrading to a $1,500 one.

Physical no-go barriers
App-based no-go zones work until a map rebuild wipes them, and then the robot finds the cat's water bowl. A printed low fence around a pet feeding station, a litter-box corral, or a lip around a floor plant's saucer is a barrier that doesn't depend on software state. Make them at least 60 mm tall so the bumper reads them as wall rather than climbing them.

Mop pad drying rack and consumable caddy
Even with a heated-air dock, spare pads need somewhere to hang. A wall-mounted rack with drip standoffs beats draping them over a laundry sink, and a caddy sized to your specific dust bags, side brushes and filters means you actually reorder before you run out. This is boring and it is the print people keep.

Brush comb and maintenance tools
The little plastic comb-and-blade tool in the box is always the first thing to disappear. A replacement takes fifteen minutes to print, and you can make it better than the original — a longer handle, a hook sized to your brush roll's end cap, a wider comb for long hair. Print two.

Discontinued and orphaned parts
This is where a scanner earns its keep. Side-brush arms, dock alignment clips, water-tank caps, bin latches, wheel covers — the small injection-molded pieces that break and are either backordered forever or no longer stocked at all. Given how quickly this category churns brands and how many older platforms are now under new ownership, a machine that's four years old can be functionally unsupported while the motor and battery are fine.
We scan the broken part with a Revopoint MetroY, rebuild it as clean parametric geometry rather than a messy scan mesh, and print a fit-checked replacement. That workflow is the same one we describe in our piece on how big manufacturers actually use printing — reverse engineering a part that no longer exists is one of the highest-value things a print shop does.

What we won't print for a robot vacuum
Anything that covers a sensor, camera, LiDAR turret, cliff sensor or air vent. Decorative shells are popular online and most of them are a bad idea. If a print blocks the downward cliff sensors, the robot drives off a stair landing.
Anything in the dock's heated wash path. Several of these docks wash pads at boiling-adjacent temperatures. PLA sags well below that, and no FDM print is watertight enough to sit in standing water without harboring what grows in layer lines.
Structural chassis parts, battery housings, or anything electrical. Not load-bearing, not safety-critical — that's a firm line for us regardless of what the model file claims.
Licensed designs without a commercial license. A lot of the best community models are published for personal use only. If you bring us a file, we'll check its terms before we run it, and we'll tell you if we can't.

What's actually coming next
Four manufacturers have shown stair-climbing modules: Roborock's Saros Rover, Dreame's Cyber X, Eufy's MarsWalker, and MOVA's Zeus 60. All four are carriers — a separate tracked platform the robot docks into, which then hauls it between floors. None of them clean the stairs themselves, with the partial exception of the Cyber X, which Dreame demonstrated pausing to clean each step on the way down.
As of this writing none has shipped to consumers in the U.S. Dreame has publicly targeted a second-half-2026 launch for the Cyber X at roughly €999, initially compatible only with its X60 series. Eufy's MarsWalker was slated for the first half of 2026 and works with the Omni S2. Hands-on reporting from IFA and CES has been mixed — one outlet described the Cyber X prototype as extremely slow on the first step and needing rest between demo runs. Every public demo so far has been on a purpose-built staircase.
Our read: interesting, unproven, and not a reason to delay a purchase. If you have a two-story house, two cheaper robots and a printed dock shelf on each floor is the solution that works today.
Common questions
Do I actually need the mop, or should I get a vacuum-only robot?
It depends on your floors. If your home is mostly hard surface — which describes a lot of San Diego housing — the mop is the point, and skipping it means you still have the worst chore left. If your home is mostly carpet, a vacuum-only robot is genuinely the better machine: some hybrids sacrifice brush clearance to fit the mopping hardware, and testers have measured that costing up to 15% of carpet pickup. Vacuum-only models also have fewer pumps and water paths to fail, and they cost less.
What's the single most useful thing to print for a robot vacuum?
Threshold ramps, by a wide margin. Every other print on this list is a nice-to-have. A ramp converts a room the robot refuses to enter into a room it cleans daily, and it does that for a few dollars of filament. Measure your worst doorway first — if it's under about 20 mm and you're buying a chassis-lifting flagship, you may not need one at all.
Can you print a replacement part for my discontinued robot vacuum?
Usually, for the small molded parts — brush arms, clips, caps, latches, covers, bin components. We scan the original with a Revopoint MetroY, rebuild it in CAD, and print a fit-checked replacement, typically in 3–7 days. What we won't do is anything electrical, structural, or safety-critical, and we won't reproduce a part that's still available from the manufacturer — buying the real one is usually cheaper and always better.
Is it safe to attach printed parts to the robot itself?
Be careful. Anything mounted on the robot must not block the LiDAR turret, the forward camera or structured-light emitters, the downward cliff sensors, the bumper's travel, or any air intake or exhaust. Blocking a cliff sensor is the dangerous one — that's what stops it driving off a stair landing. Decorative shells are all over the model sites and most of them fail at least one of those tests. The parts on our list live on the floor and on your furniture, not on the robot, which is deliberate.
What does a set of threshold ramps cost if I don't own a printer?
We bill FDM at $7/hr of machine time plus material, so the cost tracks the size of the ramp rather than a flat per-part fee. A single interior doorway is a short job; a wide opening or a tall threshold takes proportionally longer because both the run and the volume grow. Text the doorway width and threshold height — a photo with a tape measure across it is ideal — to 858-342-6984 and you'll get a firm number back rather than a range.
Should I still buy a Roomba?
That's a judgment call we'd rather hand you the facts on than make for you. iRobot completed its Chapter 11 restructuring on January 23, 2026 and is now wholly owned by Shenzhen Picea Robotics, which was already its contract manufacturer. The company says it remains headquartered in Bedford, Massachusetts with U.S.-based engineering, and it established a subsidiary called iRobot Safe with an independent U.S. board to govern consumer data. Apps, warranties and support are stated to continue. What that means for long-term parts availability and software support is not yet knowable. The models in our shortlist above simply scored higher in independent testing, which is the basis we use.
