Step-by-Step Build Guide

STEP 01

Pick a Layout and Source Your Case Files

The easiest path is downloading a proven printed case from Printables, Thingiverse, or GitHub — search your PCB's name plus "case" and sort by makes to find designs people have actually built. 60% and 65% footprints have the most options; split ergonomic boards like the Corne are almost entirely a printed-case ecosystem. STEP 02

Print the Case, Plate, and Gaskets

STEP 03

Assemble the Guts

Install and tune the stabilizers on the PCB first — a dab of dielectric grease on the wires eliminates rattle. Seat the heat-set inserts into the case with a soldering iron. Then place the plate over the PCB and press switches in at the corners first, supporting the hot-swap sockets from underneath with a finger so the pins don't flex the board. Drop the assembly onto the gaskets and screw the case together.

⚡ The one mistake to avoid: pushing a switch in with a bent pin. Check both pins are straight before every insertion — a bent pin can damage a hot-swap socket, and that's the one repair that does require soldering.

Flash and Configure the Firmware
